We met in the summer of 2009. It was a classic boy-meets-girl-girl-falls-asleep-during-the-movie first date. And like many other first dates, it was followed by a second date. Much like many other second dates, it included an intense match of pool-Quidditch (we hope you've read Harry Potter, otherwise none of the rest of this will make sense). Afterwards, things started to get serious. Honestly, what else would you expect after a Quidditch match? Then there was a first kiss, possibly some hand-holding, lots of flights to the West Coast and back, Gryffindor uniforms, and preparations for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. We know you were expecting to see wedding at the end of the preceding sentence, but survival preparations always come first.
(If you’re not prepared, please visit http://www.cdc.gov/phpr/zombies.htm for information that could save your life.)
We then spent some more time fighting the indomitable beast of graduate school (we still haven't beaten it). During this time, many, especially Mary, had given up hope on us ever getting engaged. Mitch surprised everyone, especially Mary, and proposed inside the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Witchery at Universal Studios, which landed us some free Butterbeer. The nice ladies at the pub also gave it to Mary's younger brother/ring carrier/pack mule (aka Joey Pate) out of pity, or enthusiasm, or whatever you perceive as the appropriate noun. Now that we’re engaged, there’s going to be a wedding, which we hope you've realized by now! Read on for more fact-filled lies.
